2020: Spartan Race Scoring System (SRSS)

2020: New pointing system for Elite Category

a) All races are scored using a 300 point system. Points are assigned based on each Elite competitor’s final place and gender:

i) The top placed male and female Elite athletes are scored equally as follows:

ii) For places beyond 11th, the points differential between each finisher becomes 1 (12th place 131, 13th place 130 and so on).

iii) At 197th place and beyond within both male and female Elite categories, there are no points (ie. 0) awarded.

1) For example, a male Elite competitor finishing 200th receives 0 points.

b) All race levels are scored the same. There is no weighting between race levels, for example Sprint vs
Super, or Sprint vs Beast.

c) There are no separate Age Group divisions or Master’s divisions within the Elite category.

2020 Pointing System for Age Group Category

a) All races are scored using a 1000 point system, known as the “standard point” system.

b) Points are assigned based on a competitor’s final place and their gender, within their specific Age Group category.

c) The formula for calculating an Age Group competitor’s points is as follows:
i) Age Group Score = 1000 * ( 1st place Age Group finish time in min / athlete’s finish time in min)
ii) The calculation is completed separately for both male and female athletes.

d) The following are examples of how Age Group score is calculated:
i) 1st Place M30-34 with a finish time of 1:00:00 -> 1000 x ( 60 / 60 ) = 1000 points
ii) 2nd Place M30-34 with a finish time of 1:03:00 -> 1000 x ( 60 / 63 ) = 952 points
iii) 3rd Place M30-34 with a finish time of 1:12:00 -> 1000 x ( 60 / 72 ) = 833 points
iv) 244th Place M30-34 with a finish time of 3:45:00 -> 1000 x ( 60 / 225 ) = 267 points

e) Competitors who are ranked below 1000th place in their specific Age Group category do not earn any
points.

2020 Pointing System for Open Category

All Open category events are scored using the same methodology as the Age Group system, however
all times and points earned are unofficial.
